Ever since I was a child I was enthralled with the beauty industry. One of my favorite games to play was beauty shop. Luckily I had an amazing grandpa that would allow me to style his hair, put stick-on earrings on him, and put my play makeup on him. As I got older cosmetology remained a passion. I’ve always had supportive friends that would let me experiment with hair and makeup. I was in high school during the thin brow era and I’m pretty sure a couple of friend’s eyebrows still haven’t recovered for my trial and error. My mom refused to allow me to go to cosmetology school, saying I needed to get a degree. I put my passion aside for several years, went to college, and got a degree in human services.
Fast forward to somewhere around 2013, I began to become interested in different makeup techniques and would practice on myself. Once again, my supportive friends encouraged me to practice on them and encouraged me again to advertise makeup services on social media. I did a local photographer (and now close friend’s) makeup for her college graduation, who later offered me a position as the makeup artist for her boudoir photography studio. Igniting my fascination with the beauty industry again, I decided to move to Dallas, TX to attend esthetician school. I graduated in early 2018 and obtained my license shortly there after. I remained in Dallas until 2021 and emersed myself in the wedding industry. I found my true joy in doing makeup in a group setting as well as the excitement and happiness I get to be a part of on wedding days.
I moved back to Missouri in 2021 and was blessed to have Makeup By Maggie take off upon my return home. I am truly grateful every day for my family and friends that have supported and encouraged me throughout my journey! As Makeup By Maggie expands and adds artists I enjoy teaching other artists about products, different techniques, and skincare. I also enjoy talking all things skincare and makeup with clients!
